It is always difficult at the end of the school year to say goodbye to our Year 6 students and some families.
At our Graduation ceremony this year our students had the privilege of listening to Jane Kanizay. Jane is an educator, adventurer, activist, speaker, artist and mother of four. She successfully climbed Mt Everest with her 19 year old daughter Gabby in 2022.
Jane spoke to the students about her challenges and moments to treasure while she was on her expedition. She shared the importance of having someone to believe in you and support you on your journey of life. Jane also challenged the students to consider two questions to ask themselves when they set a goal.
- Why did you set this goal?
- How are you going to achieve the goal?
Our outgoing School Captains presented a reflection on their 7 years at Holy Family School. Some key moments from this reflection are below.
We feel very grateful to have been given this wonderful opportunity and we will miss representing Holy Family. We have loved getting to know all the children in the school this year, helping Mrs David and Miss King and we have loved running school tours and leading assembly!
We have been so lucky to have the most amazing teachers and support here at Holy Family. We thank you all for helping us grow into the strong, confident and smart people we are today.
We would like to offer a special thank you to our two fearless leaders, who are obviously Mrs David and Miss King. Everyone knows that the best leader leads by example. If we were to follow Mrs David and Miss King’s leadership example, we would be kind, funny, hard working, sleep deprived, thoughtful, always putting others first and 100% dedicated. If you ask me, we have been #blessed to be led by the best!! Thank you for setting the example for your staff, the parents and of course, us!! When we get into a pickle next year we know to ask ourselves; “What would Mrs David and Miss King do??” With the answer to this question, we know we'll be on the right track!!
We would now like to wish all of Grade 6 the best for next year. Be brave, believe in yourself and remember you always have what you learnt at Holy Family to fall back on. We know it seems scary to be going to high school but we are ready. Our teachers have prepared us, our parents are guiding us and we are ready to take that next big step. As we journey into the unknown we remember some of the first lessons we learnt in prep all those years ago. Be kind to each other, remember to share your things, work hard, have fun and never give up! Wishing you all the success for next year and the following years. Congratulations class of 2024!! WE DID IT!!!!
