A Strong Start: Our Prep Transition Program
We are proud to offer a well-established Prep Transition Program that supports children and families as they take their first steps into primary school. With a strong reputation in the local community and enrolments from over 20 early learning centres, our program is designed to build confidence, connection, and readiness for school.
In Term 3, we welcome children to participate in our ‘Step into Prep’ sessions, giving them the opportunity to explore our learning spaces, meet key staff, and begin forming friendships. These sessions include a visit to our Library, Physical Education and Visual Arts.
This year we invited all children in 3 and 4 year old Kinder in the City of Monash to join us at our Book Week Parade. It was pleasing to see quite a few of these children come along dressed up and parade in front of our school community.
In Term 4, we continue with five structured transition sessions, which include classroom activities, play-based learning, and routines to help ease the transition into school life. On the final session our Prep students meet their class teacher and Year 5 Buddy for the following year.
Our team works closely with kindergarten and childcare educators, engaging in visits and meaningful conversations to ensure we understand each child’s unique needs. This personalised and caring approach reflects our commitment to a smooth, supported, and joyful start to school for every child.
