Growing Student Leadership: Our FIRE Carrier Induction

A couple of weeks ago we gathered as a school community to celebrate the induction of our FIRE Carrier students. This special moment recognises students who are committed to promoting respect, understanding and reconciliation within our school.

The FIRE Carrier program invites young people to carry the “fire” for justice, hope and healing. Inspired by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the fire symbolises truth, courage and the responsibility we share to walk together with respect. Our FIRE Carrier students help lead this important work by encouraging learning about First Nations cultures and by supporting actions that build a more inclusive and just community.

During the induction, students were commissioned for their role and reminded that leadership begins with small but meaningful actions – listening carefully, showing respect for culture and story, and helping others to understand the importance of reconciliation.

As a Catholic school, this work connects deeply with our faith. The Gospel calls us to honour the dignity of every person and to work for justice and peace. Our FIRE Carrier students help our community live these values by reminding us that reconciliation is not just something we talk about, but something we practise in our daily relationships.

We congratulate our newly inducted FIRE Carrier students and thank them for their willingness to lead with courage and compassion. We look forward to the ways they will help our school continue to grow in understanding, respect and reconciliation. 🔥
