Lola (Therapy Dog in training) joined our Holy Family School community in 2023. She came to school twice a week and spent time in the school yard and classrooms. When lola wasn't in classrooms and outside she was resting in Mrs David's office.
Comments from the students ranged from 'Why is she so beautiful?' to 'Seeing Lola in the morning makes my school day all the better'. It has been wonderful to see the connections our staff, students and families have made with Lola in less than 9 months.
In 2023 Mrs David (Principal) engaged in two online theory courses on the topic of 'Therapy Dogs in School Settings'. Over these holidays Mrs David and Lola once again completed a 5 hour theory course and a full day of training. Both Mrs David and Lola were exhausted after this training but are looking forward to showcasing what they have learnt with our school community.
Lola will continue to attend school twice a week in Term One 2024 and will always be on her lead and handled by Mrs David. These days will increase once she has completed another day of training in April 2024.
Lola brings joy, positivity and support to our school community.
